Advanced surgical services (for vets)
Many of you might not know about us. We have been accepting referrals from some Auckland vets for a number of years.
Most of these cases have been offered referral to a registered specialist. However, their owners often simply cannot afford specialist fees. We can offer these clients a lower cost alternative.
We make sure that all clients are aware that we are not registered specialists. Prior to any surgery we offer clients the option of electing referral to a specialist. Eckhard Stalmann completed a surgical internship at VSG.
Soft tissue procedures
- Total ear canal ablation and lateral bulla osteotomy
- Intrathoracic esophageal foreign body removal
- Laryngeal arytenoid lateralisation
- Feline perineal urethrostomy
- Canine scrotal urethrostomy for urethral stones
- Perineal hernia repair
- Pyloroplasty for hypertrophic pylorus (pyloric stenosis)
- Tumour removal
- Intravenous Pyelography and ectopic ureter repair
- General soft tissue surgery – bladder, kidney, bowel etc
- Thoracotomy – lung lobe resection, pericardectomy etc
- Frontal sinus trephining with clotrimazole treatment for nasal Aspergillosis

Advanced Surgery at Affordable Prices
We are able to offer many complicated and advanced surgical procedures that many vets simply don’t or cannot do. In most instances these cases are referred by your vet to a registered veterinary specialist who might charge much higher fees than we do. We are not registered specialists but we do perform many of the same procedures.
Dr Eckhard Stalmann leads our surgical team. Eckhard spent a year doing a surgical internship at Veterinary Specialist Group in Auckland. He brings a lot of new ideas and the latest knowledge to Veterinary Associates.
We get referrals from a number of veterinary clinics in the Auckland area. Many of these owners simply cannot afford specialist fees. We see our surgical role as providing an advanced surgical service to patients that might otherwise not get the treatment they need and deserve.
