The pet hospital in Takanini is one of the most modern in Australasia. The building was professionally designed and purpose-built in 1996. It was opened in December that year. Since then refinements have been made on an ongoing basis.

The hospital has a spacious air-conditioned waiting area. Comfortable seating and an arched ceiling provide a relaxing atmosphere. There is a TV with  animal orientated programs to entertain you while you wait to see our vets. A wide range of current quality magazines is available for your enjoyment. Children are welcome. The hospital has access for wheelchairs and a bathroom is available for people with disabilities.

There are three well-appointed consult rooms. All rooms are computerised. A primary clinical examination of patients takes place in these rooms. Animals are admitted or discharged here. The pharmacy is situated behind the consult rooms, and is also accessible from the hospital treatment area. The hospital treatment area is where patients are examined and treated daily. Minor surgical and dental procedures are performed here. The hospital has an administrative assistant responsible for accurately recording all procedures and treatments. The whole hospital is air conditioned, even the animal wards.

There are two sterile operating theatres where complex sterile operations are performed daily. Both theatres and the treatment area have reticulated oxygen systems. Isofluorane anaesthetic machines are used in the theatres.  Sophisticated anaesthetic monitoring devices are used on all patients under aneasthesia. An area alongside the theatres is used as a surgical preparation area. All instruments are sterilised on site. Soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries are performed daily. A complete range of instrumentation is available to the surgeons. We are continually upgrading and purchasing new equipment to make sure that your pets get only the best.

We do encourage you to visit your pet in hospital. Please note that “visiting hours” are in the late afternoon or early evening.

Our main aim is to make your pet’s stay with us as comfortable as possible.
